PuppetCon offers a rare opportunity to delve into the brilliant minds of Canadian puppetry and rediscover the magic that puppets bring to our lives.
Each of the 16 workshops, shows and panels are ticketed individually so you can pick and choose what you want to attend. Or, buy their special Gloria Ticket and attend up to four workshops, all the shows and panels, and snag a few sweet perks too.
Workshops
PuppetCon aims to rekindle the love for puppetry by providing attendees with immersive workshops led by industry experts. Whether you're a seasoned puppeteer or a novice eager to explore this captivating art form, there's a workshop tailored to your interests and skill level.
The workshops will cover a wide range of puppetry techniques, including A Tour of Pupperty with Graham Soul, Adapting Stories for Puppet Performances with Emily Pearlman, Puppet Manipulation with Bob Stutt and so many more. Participants will have the chance to learn how to make their own puppet, character development, and stage presence, while discovering new ways to bring their puppet creations to life. These hands-on experiences will reinvigorate the skills of puppeteers and inspire newcomers to embark on their own puppetry journey.
Insightful Panel Discussions
PuppetCon is not just about practical skills; it also invites attendees to engage in thought-provoking panel discussions. Accomplished puppeteers, industry professionals, and puppetry scholars will come together to share their knowledge, experiences, and insights into the art of puppetry.
Panel discussions may delve into topics such as Puppets around the work, a reunion of Under the Umbrella Tree favourites, and a fun adults only panel full of unscripted and untested content. These conversations will offer a unique perspective on the art form, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of puppetry's cultural and artistic value.
Showcase Performances
The heart of PuppetCon lies in its captivating showcase performances, where puppetry talents from across Canada take center stage.
Audiences can expect to be enthralled by the expert puppet manipulation, intricate set designs, and mesmerizing storytelling or The Family Crow: A Murder Mystery and Everybody Loves Pirates.
