Birthday Collection Launch

Birthday Collection Launch

I'm sorry, but another birthday?

Didn't I just have one?

While time does it's thing, we're still having fun over here at Cheerfully Made.

In fact, now that construction of our downtown core and the virus-which-must-not-be-named is "behind" us, it's safe to say we're having more fun than we have in a very long time.

Summertime is birthday time at CMHQ, and in keeping with tradition, we're celebrating with a big old ELEVENTEENTH birthday party this weekend at the shop!

We're bringing in some maker pals for pop ups, setting up a free DIY friendship bracelet making station, sampling our favourite Cocktail Bombs, offering free gifts with every purchase AND launching a very limited line of products curated by the birthday girl herself. ME!

I've been holding back these items for weeks and while they won't hit the floor until Saturday August 3rd (online at www.cheerfullymade.com by the 4th!) I think it's time I give you a little taste of what I've purchased...and why I think you'll love them as much as I do.

It's Emily's Collection for a reason after all.

This year I tried to select items that either A) made me squeal with delight upon discovering them or B) I genuinely use and love.

I also made an effort to have items that spanned a variety of categories and price points while still ticking that ever important "but is it CUTE?" box.

Not to toot my own horn, but I think I nailed it.

First up?

Quilted Kantha Bedspreads

These beauties are imported all the way from Australia (where they REALLY know how to have fun with fabrics btw), and are giving allllll the Anthro vibes. They're high quality cotton, lightweight and king sized.

Our limited selection comes in vintage inspired florals and gorgeous velvety solids in a variety of Emily-approved colours.

This is the first time we've ever reached down under for home decor inspirations and it certainly won't be the last!

Magnesium Bedtime Spray

Now. If you know me even a teeny tiny bit, you know that I LOVE a good sleep.

You might also know that I'm teetering on the edge of midlife and grasping at any and all straws that can HELP with sleep.

We got to know Charleston & Harlow during one of our virtual markets, and when I saw that they were making Magnesium Sleep Spray, my curiousity was instantly piqued.

This Lavender Magic Magnesium Spray smells lovely, and really does the trick to get me easing under the covers for a deep and restful sleep.

Since starting to use this product I've learned a lot about Magnesium.

Did you know that most people are Magnesium deficient and that every cell in the body needs it in some way? It is essential for bone, tooth, muscle, and joint health as well as for optimal sleep and stress reduction.

While you may be more familiar with oral Magnesium supplements, many people have difficulty absorbing magnesium internally and find topical magnesium a more effective method.

If you're someone who struggles with sleep I encourage you to try it out!

Smellavision

Also from this brand, we've brought in a collection of unisex Eau de Parfums.

Typically, scents are a challenge to sell in our online shop, but I truly couldn't resist bringing them in upon smelling the samples.

There isn't a single scent in the bunch that I don't love and they're reasonably enough priced that you can experiment to find the one that suits you to perfection.

Fresh, modern and travel-sized, these fragrances make a perfect gift for you or someone you love.

Cheeky Little Numbers

I went a little wild in the beauty department for this birthday's collection.

I'm turning a ripe 45 years young later this month and, while I still love wearing makeup, I do find myself leaning toward more moisture packed products that highlight my skin's natural health and texture.

These glow sticks from Pink House Organics come in 3 subtle shades for an enhanced natural glow. I like to dab a little on my cheekbones, cupids bow and a teensy smudge on the tip of my nose for a fresh and glowy look.

And, when I want a little extra boost of colour?

This tinted lip and cheek balm from Avry Beauty is the perfect, pocket-sized solution. I like to keep mine in my purse for a midday pick-me-up. We've also picked up their purse-friendly lotion minis in all the scents!

A Thought a Day Journals

If you're anything like me, you think a lot about how you really should be journaling more.

A few months ago, while visiting a friend in Toronto I came upon a small independent bookshop that carried 5 year jot-point style journals.
I picked one up despite the likelihood that it'd end up among all my other unused notebooks on my nightstand, but was pleasantly surprised by how effortless it made journalling a regular practice for me.

So when I found these from a maker in the UK, I knew I had to share them with you.

The idea is that, instead of writing a whole daunting entry, you can just jot down a few of the highlights, or a single memory from each day of a year.

I have really enjoyed looking back at my entries and sparking those little memories and I'm sure that will only get more fun to do as the next years come and go.

I will 100% be giving these as gifts regularly from now on!

Handker Bandanas

I'm a bandana girl.

I've always loved channelling my inner Rosie the Riveter with a scarf around my head, and used to collect them from vintage shops in my 20s to pass off as a "cute top" in those precious days when I could get away with that kind of thing.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of folks wearing bandanas as neckerchiefs or even belts, so when I spotted these beautifully illustrated cotton scarves by Handker, I quickly snatched up my favourites.

I'll be curious to see if you swoon over these like I did!

Wide-leg Muslin Rompers

Last year we brought in this line of comfy cozy rompers in a variety of colours and we could hardly keep them in the shop. They are loose fitting, light and airy with a large tie back and deep flat front pockets.

Cute over a bathing suit, bra or t-shirt I can almost guarantee this will quickly become your favourite grab-and-go outfit.

What's more is they dry like the wind.

So, if you, oh I don't know, sayyyyy find yourself in Niagara Falls on a family getaway and get unexpectedly sopping wet on the Maid of the Mist (now Hornblower), you'll be dry and ready to rock those wax museums in no time.

Don't ask me how I know that.

Available in pink and olive and coming soon in black and blue.

Hug Rings

I can't with these.

If you don't love this ring (available in gold and silver) then we can't be friends.

Cheerful Prints

Affordable art is the best way to make your space your own without breaking the bank and I wanted to round out my collection with a fun-loving collection of prints by a maker who calls themselves Art Baby.

While personally, I've been off the sauce for some time now, I can still appreciate good cheer, and these prints had me smiling when I spotted them in my shopping travels.

Eco-Friendly Cloths and Beeswax Wraps
If you haven't yet tried Swedish Dishcloths, PLEASE allow me the honour of introducing you to your kitchen counter's new best friend.
Super absorbent and streak-free, these dishcloths are the cutest, hardest working cloths you'll ever try.
I can't express how satisfying I find them to use.
AND they're machine washable so they last and last!
Also, in my eco-friendly home toolkit are these Beeswax wraps.
Gone are the days of cellophane and sandwich bags. These wraps are easy to use, a breeze to clean and keep your food fresh and waste free.
Flameless Lighters
I don't always light shit on fire, but when I do, I like to make it cute.
I am a huge sucker for anything colour-blocked and, apparently, that includes lighters.
Flame-free, butane-free and re-chargable by USB-C (included) these duo-tone lighters by Botanica are like tiny little tasers for your home fire-starting needs.
Prefer to keep the flame alive old school?
I've also brought in some really adorable colour tipped matches.
A great addition to any candle lover's gift.
Loo Drops
The last item I'll share is Loo Drops.
You may remember the Poopourri craze of 2012.
That quirky little spray you spritz in the toilet before you "go" that traps unpleasant scents below the water's surface?
Well Loo Drops are a modern, essential oil based version of that phenomenon.
I don't know guys.
We all poop and poop stinks.
This stuff smells like Bergamot/Mint, Eucalyptus/Citrus and Lavender/Cedarwood/Rosemary and I'm here for it.
Inarguably so much better than the alternative.
All of these items and MORE will be launching THIS Saturday August 3rd for our annual birthday celebration. We are open 10am to 8pm but the party starts at 5pm.
I hope you'll join us!
Items be linked and available for online shopping on August 4th.
Hope to see you Saturday (or anytime really)!
