Sue-ann Blakely is a potter, wife, oma, golfer and curler based out of Ottawa, Ontario. She has a Bachelor of Science degree and has taken numerous years of ceramic courses including at the Haliburton School of Art.
With Sue-ann's scientific laboratory background she was naturally led to the world of ceramic chemistry. Glaze layering coupled with her modified firing schedules create her rich runny reactions.
She mixes, by hand, her palette of lively coloured slips, gloss and satin glazes. Continual experimentation and particular discoveries design her handmade creations, both wheel thrown and hand built. Her creative edge has developed into her Negative Silhouette collection. All her work is bisque and glaze fired, at her home studio, to cone 6+, approximately 1250 degrees Celsius.
