The gal behind 7 Paper Houses, Sam Atkinson, likes being busy. So in 2012, when she found herself at home on maternity leave, it was the first time in 20 years that she wasn’t going to work or school; thus 7 Paper Houses was born shortly after her daughter was!
“I’ve never considered myself a creative person, so I dreamed up the jewelry bar concept - it allows me to be a maker, without having to really create anything myself because shoppers pick every piece of their design! I love being behind the bar, listening to the stories of why people are selecting each pendant for a necklace or getting totally fun bangle hand-stamping requests, and then being able to give them a piece of jewelry that tells that story.”
Sam’s designs can be simple and clean, or beautiful large clusters. She hand-stamps hundreds of blanks each season, from initials, to coordinates, to sassy phrases, to really make each piece totally personal. Sam will tell you she’s happiest when she’s spent a whole weekend at a market, her palms are bruised from her jeweller’s pliers, her heart is full of your stories, and she’s headed home to her little family.
